We were too late for Brother Bear.
But we are not too late for the horses who need us today.

Our Mission:

To rescue the most vulnerable horses from auctions, slaughter pipelines, and situations of neglect and abandonment; to provide the care and rehabilitation they need to recover physically and emotionally; and, to place them with loving, lifelong guardians.

Every horse deserves safety, dignity, and a second chance — regardless of age or condition.

When Brother Bear came to me, he was a skeleton covered with skin and fur.

Years of dental neglect had left him almost unable to eat. I had him for only 24 hours before he collapsed from severe heart failure and died with his head in my hands.

His death was entirely preventable.

I could not save Bear.

But I could make sure that his story became the reason that other horses get a second chance.

The Rescue Journey

Every horse’s story is different, but every successful rescue follows a journey.

Emergency Rescue

The journey begins when a horse is identified as at-risk due to neglect, abandonment, illness, injury, auction placement, or entry into the slaughter pipeline. We work to bring these vulnerable horses to safety and provide immediate care.

Rehab

Rehabilitation

Once safe, the healing begins. Horses may require veterinary treatment, nutritional support, farrier care, training, and time to recover physically and emotionally. Some recover quickly. Others require months of dedicated care.

Rehoming

When a horse is healthy and ready, we carefully match them with approved adopters or foster homes where they can thrive. Our goal is not simply rescue—it is a safe, loving, lifelong future.

Rehome

The Challenge

The greatest challenge is that we never know what a horse will need when we say yes.

The cost of a rescue is only the beginning. Veterinary care, rehabilitation, feed, medications, farrier services, and ongoing support can continue for weeks, months, or longer.

Every horse deserves the opportunity to complete the journey.

No horse completes that journey alone.

Neither do we.

Join the Journey

Every horse’s journey is different.

Some need immediate medical care. Others require months of rehabilitation before they’re ready for a new beginning.

What never changes is this:

No horse completes the journey alone.

Behind every successful rescue is a community of people who choose to care.

That’s why we’ve created our Teams.

Each Team supports a different stage of the rescue journey, giving you the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable horses.

Whether you choose to give monthly, make a one-time contribution, volunteer your time, or simply stand with us in our mission, your support helps ensure we can continue saying “yes” when the next horse needs us most.

Choose the Team that speaks to your heart.
